Born on 12 January 1863 in a normal family of Calcutta, Vivekananda’s childhood name was Narendranath Dutt. The name ‘Swami Vivekananda’ was given to him by his Guru Ramakrishna Paramhans. At the age of 25, he renounced worldly attachments and took sannyas. When Vivekananda met Ramakrishna Paramhans, who was on the search for God at a young age, he got the knowledge of God. His mother had exposed him to scriptures like Ramayana, Gita and Mahabharata since childhood. Later, Vivekananda became a famous and influential spiritual teacher.
